History
The need for unusual attitude recovery training had been apparent to our founder Lowell Hinchee for many years. In his previous position at Northeast Louisiana University as Professor of Aviation, pilots sought his advice and counsel on unusual attitudes; in reference to being in the “wrong attitude at the wrong time” and wanted to learn ways to recover from a bad situation safely. When he and his wife returned to Central Florida after teaching at Northeast Louisiana University, he found that pilots had the same need and were asking for the same advice and counsel. In 1999, Lowell founded Foundation Flyers, Inc. to fill this need.
The initial course titled “Emergency Maneuvers” has now evolved into a set of research-based unusual attitudes courses unique among the few offered throughout the United States. Years of continuous research has produced a training program beneficial to pilots regardless of their skill level and the type of airplane being flown. To date, hundreds of satisfied customers have participated in Lowell Hinchee’s unusual attitudes recovery courses.
With the recent addition of more staff, Foundation Flyers, Inc. is poised to serve more customers, further refine current courses, and develop new ones based on company research and customer’s needs and feedback.
